If you’ve been wanting a Pottery Barn Kids Anywhere chair but just don’t want to pay the higher costs, there’s a company called UglySofa.com that sells “Ugly-Where Chairs”.  Okay, so you need a bit of a sense of humor.  Essentially they use their own foam chair that is suppose to be top quality and cover it with “brand X” slipcovers…hint: same as the $$$ ones!  So you get the look of the $$$ ones but for a fraction of the cost.  The regular size one is only $59.99 and there are quite a few options of covers to choose from.  Today until midnight if you use code blackfridaybites at checkout you will get 20% off your  purchase!  Shipping for the Ugly Where chairs is a flat rate of $15 so essentially this makes shipping $3.  Great deal and no one will every know you didn’t get it at the “other” store!

I’ve been wanting to try wool dryer balls for awhile now and Buddha Bunz has their undyed and colored dryer balls on sale for $5/$8.  If you’d like them scented it’s an additional $1.  Plus if you spend $40 or more use code 40free for a free undyed dryer ball with your order!

Sunday Exhortations: Around the Manger

Today marks the first Sunday in the advent season to prepare for Christmas.  I really enjoy advent as it prepares my heart and mind for Christmas.  It’s so easy to get caught up in the busy hustle and bustle of the season, finding the next deal, decorating, going to the parades and parties.  We need to be intentional and take the time to be filled with the wonder and awe of Christmas.

Over the past few years I have come to really appreciate the variety of resources that remind me of the story of redemption that God has been working since sin entered.  Dr. Sinclair Ferguson, senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC, gave one of my favorite sermons in 2007 titled “Around the Manger: Mary” from Luke 1:26-38.   If you haven’t listened to Dr. Ferguson he has a lovely Scottish accent.  More importantly, Dr. Ferguson reminds us of the significance and wonder that “love came down at Christmas”.

As the advent season begins, I encourage you to take the time to delight and be amazed by the glorious gift of Christ!  I pray that you find this sermon encouraging as you too prepare for Christmas.  If you have others you have found encouraging, I’d love for you to share those in the comments!

Review and Giveaway: My Memories Suite Digital Scrapbook Software

I have never really been a scrapbooker as I can honestly say I am not very artsy/crafty.  Oh there are occasions when I can find a project within my limited art gifting but I was always overwhelmed by the prospect of putting together a whole scrapbook without making it look like my 3 year old created it.  I’ve come to truly appreciate the different photo sites that help you to create professional quality photo books that look, well, professional.  So when I was contacted by My Memories to review and giveaway their My Memories Suite Digital Scrapbooking (version 3) software I was thrilled!

Their software, by Polaroid, allows you to create digital scrapbooks, photobooks, cards, calendars and photo gifts.  What I am most excited to use it for is to make cards!  I had hoped to be on the ball to have Lil Dude’s birthday invitation ready but decided to wait a bit till we get a bit closer so the picture is most recent.  As mentioned before, I love that one way I can carry on my my mom’s legacy is by making personalized invitations for Munchkin’s birthdays, and now Lil Dude.  In the past I’ve turned to various printing and photo services to create the invites but now I’ll be able to use the My Memories Suite.

I’ve played with the scrapbook templates and there are a variety of designer templates included in the MyMemories Suite that have 4 to 32 pages.  Since I’m relatively new to the digital scrapbook world I really appreciate all the video tutorials they offer on their blog!  If I’m having trouble figuring something out there are plenty of tutorials to direct me to the right place.  There are also a TON of additional kits that you can purchase if you had something else in mind or find a designer you just love.  Prices are reasonable and it seems like this is a great way to save money if you already like to scrapbook.

To get a better idea of what all you can do with the My Memories Suite watch the video below.

Review & Giveaway: Tropical Traditions Moisturizing Cream

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review another product from Tropical Traditions!  When deciding what product would be best to review I only had to look at my dry and cracked skin on my hands.  My hands are always dry as the weather gets colder and now combined with the constant washing of bottles, they are in desperate need of some deep moisturizing.  Tropical Traditions graciously sent me their Moisturizing Cream in Lavender scent.  This cream is made with 100% natural ingredients including virgin coconut oil and virgin palm oil.

I have used many lotions over the years with varying success but have not tried a moisturizing cream until now.  First, let me say the lavender scent is simply lovely.  It’s distinct but not overpowering, like the scent of the small breeze blowing through a field filled with lavender flowers.  Love it!  Might not be the best choice for men, but it’s definitely a lovely feminine scent.  Tropical Traditions describes their cream as ” especially useful for very dry skin. Highly concentrated, they work well for overnight use, and are great for massaging into the skin.”  My hands definitely qualify for the “very dry skin” and I have applied several times for overnight use.  I did find it to be rather oily at first application, however, the label tells the user to allow time for cream to absorb into your skin.  I find that once I apply the cream I need to just not touch anything for at least 5 minutes.  Perhaps I just need to learn more tricks for laundry but I am forever getting oil stains on my clothing.  I’d like to get a pair of cotton gloves to wear after applying the cream to get a deep moisturizing during the night.

Overall, if you are looking for deeply moisturizing cream that smells just lovely, I recommend Tropical Traditions Moisturizing Creams!

Buy It!

You can purchase Tropical Traditions Moisturizing Creams here.  Retails for $19.50 but currently on sale for $13.50!
