Sunday Exhortations: Knowing God as Father

Today is Father’s Day.  I am so thankful and blessed to have grown up with father who firstly loves and seeks the Lord and then has sought to love my mom and my brother and I.  My story is a bit unique in that I was adopted in a private adoption when I was three days old.  My adoptive parents are the only parents I have known.   Being chosen by my parents has given me a unique and very personal understanding of being chosen and adopted as a child of God.    Not because I have done anything great or have earned my place in His family.   I am a child of the most high King because he has chosen me!

My father is not a perfect man, he would quickly affirm that truth, however, I have seen him grow over the years.  I have watched him wrestle with sin and grow as a man who loves and fears the Lord.  I also know that my earthly father has my best interest at heart.  How much more reassuring it is to know that my Heavenly Father is perfect.  He keeps all His promises.  He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  He is Holy.  During the New Attitude 2008 conference C.J.
