PumpEase Hands Free Pumping Support Review

When I decided to exclusively pump (EP) for Lil Dude I knew that I would have to find or create some way to pump hands free.  When I EPed for Munchkins I simply found that I could sit with certain t-shirts pulled just so over the pump horns and then I could have hands free enough to type on the computer or read a book.  That method did not allow for movement so if she woke up in the middle of a pumping session or the phone rang and I had left it across the room I was in a pickle, typically with a new milk stain on my pants.  I knew I would be pumping multiple times a day, all the while caring for both a 2.5 yr old and a newborn.  Enter the PumpEase Hands Free Pumping Support.Even though my pump, The Medela Freestyle, comes with straps for hands free pumping but they are complicated and don’t really seem very secure or supportive.  I found PumpEase randomly while searching on Amazon for hands free options.  It was created by a mom who wanted to create a product that would be both pretty and functional.

First, they really do have some fun patterns!  They have two pattern collections, the classic and Fabulous 50s.  The classic collection includes leopard print, cherries, tuxedo, and “Stoney River”.  My favorite is the Fabulous 50s collection red, black, or blue with white polka dots!  I’ve always loved polka dots and find these so fun!  They have also recently released an organic version as well.

If you know me, you know that I love products that serve a practical and functional purpose.  PumpEase lives up to its name in providing a pumping session is easy!   The bra is a simple design in that is a bandeau style with slits to allow for the horns.  PumpEase is closed using front eye hook clasps, which I love.  There’s no wearing down of Velcro and every time you wear it you know the exact fit or setting.  It also allows for the changing sizes are often experienced postpartum.  It’s also easy to put on and take off, making pumping while driving a breeze and discrete when removing.  The material is a bit stretchy which allows me to be able to do massage if necessary to work out a plugged duct.  And yet, I have found the material to be supportive enough to hold 6oz in each bottle without pulling out of the slits.

When I’m pumping with PumpEase I’m able to drive, type, read, tend to Munchkins or Lil Dude, prep and cook dinner, etc.  Multitasking Mommy, that’s me.  Which leads me to the only negative…my family has started assume I can do all things while pumping!  They will ask “do you have on your “walking” bra?” when they have something they’d like for me to do while I pump.   Relaxing while pumping really does lead to a higher output, however, if I have things that must be done while I’m pumping, I now have the freedom and ability to do so.

PumpEase, along with my Medela Freestyle, have made pumping less of a hassle, totally do-able, and even relaxing at times!  I purchased mine for about $35 from Amazon and it was worth every penny.  Wish only I hadn’t waited until Lil Dude to purchase one!  I’m still considering purchasing another one to keep in my pumping bag for when I’m on the go.  To any mommy who is pumping, I highly recommend purchasing a PumpEase!
